San Diego Triathlon camp?

Question:I tried and did not get much response. I am considering going to the Multisport 5 day camp in San Diego. Has anyone attended? Was it fun? Was it worth it? Please post or write to me directly.

Answer:

It's the best camp you will ever attend. Staff of Paul Huddle and Roch Frey are the best at what they do. You will have a great 5 days.

I attended the Multisport Boulder camp and found it to be great fun and very informative. I'm sure their San Diego camp is a blast. John Duke is one of a kind. You'll get to train with the pros and learn tons about Ironman distance triathloning. I would highly recommend their camps.

One more thing.. PNF and Huddle are pretty cool too. My wife even enjoyed the camp.

The best Triathlon investment I made. Roch & Paul entertain as they teach. You'll love it.

I'm biased because for the last few years I have been in a Masters program coached by Roch Frey and Paul Huddle, two of the coaches from the camps, but the whole reason I'm in the masters program is because of my experience at the camp if that tells you anything. Also for some undefineable reason in that short week in 1996 I went from thinking maybe if I got lucky I could finish Ironman Canada 5 months later to knowing that I could and that I would. Some sort of becoming a "real triathlete" by osmosis thing, I don't know.

It's great fun in a great area with great people. It was WAY worth it for me because I live here so I didn't pay lodging, but from what I could tell it was also well worth it for all the out of town campers, the hotel they use is pretty nice, and the food, which I did get to enjoy, was great. Also, as has been noted, your triathlon life will not be complete until you have spent at least some time in hearing range of John Duke.

My wife and I attended the camp last winter. I had a great time and it was an excellent triathlon vacation. The pro staff were really down to earth and the training with them was just like being back home with my buddies. The food is excellent. If you go in the winter try to go to the camp when the "Competitor magazine" sports award trip is offered. That party was a blast. Everybody who is anybody in triathlon and endurance sport was there. I also happened to have my birthday during the camp. I didnt tell anybody but my wife did and PNF and the crew surprised me with a cake and ice cream party. That wasn't necessary but it tells you how much they really care that you have a good time and they go out of their way to make sure you do. I highly recommend it. The price is very reasonable and the experiences you take away are as the commercial states , "priceless" Go there and have a great time.

The San Diego School of Champions camp is the best thing you will experience as an age group triathlete. During the camp you will be properly fitted on your bike so you can ride fast and without pain, your swim stoke will be analyzed and corrected, and your running gait will be examined. You will be provided with workouts and can sit down will the leading professional triathletes and plan a workout schedule that could turn you into a national champion. You will love the weather and the area. The fine folks that conduct the camp are first class, the best, super cool. Do not miss the opportunity and when your finished you will want to check out the Boulder Ironman camp. I have known a number of people who have attended each camp and everyone of them will tell you they would go back again and again.
