Question:Anybody have a Half Marathon Training schedule they'd like to share.
Answer:
I'm also training for a half-marathon and I just want to say good-luck. I
usually do my workouts relying on a heart rate monitor. I have about two or
three intense workouts a week, a long run, and a couple recovery runs.
Right now, I'm only a couple weeks into training though as I'm not racing my
half-marathon until May.
this is for those of us who cannot and will not ever become full time
runners:
This is a 2x2x2x2 workout and you see why...
Basically I do 3 of four activities a week - paddle, hike/run, bike, climb
Now one can't do it all but hell I like to train.
Paddle canoe/kayak for upper body strength and I like too damn it for up to
4-6 hours Hike up to 35km in 4:25 hrs and run up to 10km in 40min or so (I mainly run
5km to 10km).Also mtn bike, doing endurance rides, i.e. anything over 30-50 km fast, long
& short 20-30 technical fast, speed work on climbs etc at paces from 15-16km
/ hr and 21-23km per hour which is pretty good for mountain biking...
Finally I rock climb for over all conditioning and enlightenment for 6-8 hrs.
Overall I felt my conitioning was great. I ran a 5km in 20:45 min and a 21
km Half Marathon in 1:47:37 hrs so obviously I can improve my acceptable
performance.
check out the runners world web sight. they have training schedules for all
levels for full and 1/2 marathons.
