Question:I'm a Dutch runner and would like to enter the New York marathon this
year. Does anyone have info on how to go about that. I.e. when and
to whom do i apply, are the quotas set etc.
Answer:
It is organized by the New York Road Runners Club (212-860-4455) and
took place on November 12, 1995. Call them or write for instructions
(you have to send a check to get the application).
I am not sure about the deadlines, but I registered last year (for the
first time) in June -- I think it was late and probably was lucky to be
accepted (some friends who applied at the same time did'nt make it). I
would apply earlier this year to be sure. There is no qualification,
but "limited" number of entrants (27900 for the last one).
Given the popularity of the NYM in Europe, and in Netherland (950 Dutch
participants on Nov 12, 1995), I am pretty sure you can easily find in
Netherland a runners club that has all the information and possibly
offers charter trips.
