Question:Are you preparing for the New York Marathon?
It will be my first marathon and I will exchange information about
training, experience etc
are you interested?
Answer:
I also am training for my first NY marathon. I am
not going to run untill the year 2000, but I
thought it would be a good idea to start now.
Before my decision to run the marathon I was a 15
to 20 mile a week runner. I went on the internet
under the NY road runners club and found a training
program. THey get up to about 40 miles a week
before the race. Now since I won't be running for
a while I will stretch out the weeks and try to
build up slowly. From what I hear it is all about
running one hill run, one sprint run, and one long
run per week with your regular 4-6 mile runs
dispersed throughout the week. They give two days
off per week which I would guess would be for
strenght training. If you have any advice for me
or find out anything new let me know.
I ran this marathon several years ago and enjoyed it thoroughly!
People lined the entire course.
I am planning to do the NYC marathon next year so i would like to hear
your experiences or (training) suggestions. I'm running 3 times a week
now
but will have to increase that.
