Question:could someone explain the reasoning behind why the women's winner of this
year's new york city marathon will be recieving $30,000 more than the men's
winner? if the men and women are running the same race shouldn't the prize
money be equal?

imposed by the radical left of NYC.

they are not running the same race. there are an array of incentives to
produce certain fields & results (i.e. Americans get bonus money for
"placing"....like Meb got last year). note marathons "compete" with
marathons and maybe NYC wants to insure the best women runners are in
NYC and not Chicago or Berlin (Fall Marathons).

On their website, it doesn't say that.
