Question:I would really like to run the NYC marathon but did not make it in the
lottery. I am willing to pay a reasonably negotiated price for an entry
to this year's marathon. If you have a number and are unable/unwilling
to run or know anyone in that situation, I would really appreciate it if
you would get in touch with me.
Answer:
Just a word to the wise to those looking to buy their way in to the NYC
Marathon.
There is a guy from the NYCRRC who logs on to this website. I don't know
what he does but he usually advises folks not to do it.
With that in mind. To pick up your number you must show photo id. Or if you
can't pick it up yourself you need to have some sort of signed letter
I would advise any runner who has been accepted to the NYC Marathon who is
thinking they don't want to run to cancel their entry and be guaranteed for
next year. You can cancel right up until the day before this year's race.
We've been able to have auctions of NYC Marathon numbers removed from eBay,
since it's against their policy to sell event tickets for more than their
value. What's interesting is that we don't look for them ourselves; other
runners bring them to our attention.
We do require ID of every runner and you must pick up your own number. I
think it's only fair that we do this out of respect to those who are
officially entered.
