Question:
1.If you know of anyone selling a Checker Marathon, please let me know.
2.Does anyone know anywhere I can get an excel spreadsheet of every make
and model of every car ever made? Granted, I really only need the 60s
and more current, but this is for a database project I'm working on and
would like to have normalized data as much as possible without having to
type it all in myself.
Answer:1.Why is it that your experience invariably differs from mine? If you
look at
http://public.fotki.com/DonaldL/national_checker/checkers_for_fotki_1...
it's a picture of a 1972 Checker Marathon. I'm not sure, but mine was
an early 1970s, and maybe a '72. Photograph #9, except for the
color, is exactly like mine. Mine also had the stool-like jump seats
in the back seating area.\
2.One of the times I lived in Florida, an elderly neighbor had a nice,
black Marathon, modified with a raised roofline to accept his 80-year-
old 6 foot 6 inch frame - while wearing a light straw Stetson.
Those who remember Checkers know that it probably had more head and
leg room (in the basic model) than any auto. So it was a toss-up,
determining which was more rare: a Checker with an extra 8-10 inches
of headroom, or an elderly man who looked like a modern pro basketball
player.
