Request for California Triathlon Info Met-Rx Triathlon, California

Question: 1.I am travelling to the USA and wish to enter some triathlons in California. I was wondering if anybody has a list of races like the one posted for Florida that they could send me.

2.Can someone send me the link that lists all the tris in California. ?

3.Anyone have any thoughts on the race? I am trying to decide if i should go or not. What is you opinion?

Answer:

1.I dont' think there is one that has them ALL ... but this link will give you a good start .. Surf's Up!

http://www.slip.net/~leeway/trilinks.html

2.I am starting to work on my 2004 California Triathlon Calendar. I already have many listed at: http://www.trifind.com/ca.html

3.This is the first year it's being run, so noone has any real opinions. You should bet on it being hot, very hot. Like 100 F during the run. And I believe the course is essentialy unshaded. Consequently hydration is critical. They'll be serving O.R.S. so be sure you try it first.

I really like it. Wish it weren't so damn expensive. But you better try it first and make sure YOU like it. Normally I train on Gatorade half-strength. O.R.S. has 6 times as many calories and 4 times as many electrolytes and still tastes quite tolerable. Like all sports drinks, it's better when cold, but it seems much less susceptible to YOUR conditions than Gatorade. I.e. cold Gatorade will often taste funny (too sweet or too sour) when I'm hot and tired but O.R.S. still tastes pretty good. OTOH, like Gatorade, it tastes like crap warm. In particular Strazzberry tastes really ultra-sweet and I have to cut it with water.

I tend to mix both flavors a little weak (Say 80%) but they're ok full-strength. I imagine that it will be Citrus Mist on the course, though, which is ok but I like less.

I like it enough that I'm planning on trying to simulate it from available ingredients, just cause it's so damn expensive.

What is Your answer?
