anyway, i was starting to think that maybe i bought a size too large or something. part of the reason i did get them is because my feet seem to be wider in the toe area and i was having problems with my nike's -- my toes would always fall asleep. at first i thought it was because i got the maximum air cushioning and was not using them properly or something. well apparently it's just me and tennis shoes.">

i need new running shoes?!

Question: i forgot to mention this in my "sick pup" post, but i do have a question. i think i must have the worst luck when it comes to purchasing running shoes. i've got a pair of Brook's which i've worn maybe 5-6 times tops. anyway for the last two times (when i actually did work out-which is also part of the reason why i probably haven't made the effort i should be with the work outs) i've gotten blisters like you wouldn't believe on my left foot--along the tendon like part on the top of the foot for the big toe area-hope that makes sense.

anyway, i was starting to think that maybe i bought a size too large or something. part of the reason i did get them is because my feet seem to be wider in the toe area and i was having problems with my nike's -- my toes would always fall asleep. at first i thought it was because i got the maximum air cushioning and was not using them properly or something. well apparently it's just me and tennis shoes.

fortunately since i still have the receipt and the shoes look practically brand new (granted i got them months ago) i will be bringing them back to the store. they shouldn't give me too much grief since it's a big retail chain and they can take it. not to mention it's not like the shoes look like hell...they are still bright white.

anyway, i need to get some ideas on good shoes. any suggestion on brand names? it would seem that nike doesn't cut it for me. i didn't like the pair of sauconey's i had a while ago, and i would like to try something new. anyone try aesics (i think i spelled that right, it just looks funny to me)? i'm thinking about the gels. again the major prob for me is that my toes seem to get numb when i wear them for extended times. (both the brooks and the nike's but not as bad on the numbness with the brooks as it was with the nikes) i'm getting irritated with these shoes, and i really don't want to shell out the big bucks if i don't have to. unfortunately it's looking like i'm going to have to go with the more expensive ones just like my ski boots. (my big calf's were only going to fit in the rachelle's-again spelling uncertainty. rossi's just don't cut it for me-even with extenders). although on the bright side, this weight loss seems to be trimming down my lower legs and when i was wearing the ski boots during the heat wave--hubby and i were praying for snow in august (don't ask) and i was trying to check the boots as a reference for the legs. oh well, i've got a great pair of ski boots anyway. (but it does look like i'll need new waterproof pants-shucks darn *big grin*)

Answer:What a coincidence, I got a pair of Brook's shoes when I started working out and just like you I got blisters on my left foot, although my blisters were on the heal. Anyway, I solved my problem by wearing two pairs of socks with them when I work out, an old trick I learned during my Girl Scout/backpacking days. I don't know if that would help you since your your blisters are in a different area of the foot but if you have that much trouble with shoes, you might want to try it.
