Question:
Is anyone aware of the qualifying times for Boston 1996?
Answer:As far as I know, the qualifying times for Boston 1996 are the same as
always:
For males 18-34 3:10.
Add 5 minutes for each 5 year age group through 70+.
Add 30 minutes if female.
Age is on race day, not necessarily when qualifying race is run.
(E.g., 43 year-old female must run 3:50:xx or better.)
But there will also be a lottery for official entry for those who don't
meet qualifying time. Check FAQ or January issue of Runner's World for
Boston Athletic Association address/phone to get more info. (From memory:

Here's the skinny on qualifying for the 1996 Boston Marathon:
The field will be expanded on a one-time basis to about 25,000
runners, up from 9,000. To get a guaranteed entry, you must meet
the following time standards on a USATF certified course from
October 1, 1994 through December 31, 1995:
Age Group Men Women
18-34 3:10 3:40
35-39 3:15 3:45
40-44 3:20 3:50
45-49 3:25 3:55
50-54 3:30 4:00
55-59 3:35 4:05
60-64 3:40 4:10
65-69 3:45 4:15
70+ 3:50 4:20
You can also get in via lottery without a qualifying time. The
total number of lottery slots is unknown. It will equal 25,000
minus the nuber of time-based qualifiers. Entries for this
"open division" will become available on 4/18/95 and must
be completed and postmarked by 11/1/95. To receive an
application write to the Boston Athletic Association, P.O. Box
1996, Hopkinton, MA 01748.
