Question:
Thing is that all the shoes I currently have dunt really seem adequate in
terms of shock protection and so on.
So where do I go for the best value in runnign shoes. I really don't want
to spend £100 and find that the novelty wains in a couple of weeks as the
weather gets worse. OTOH I would like to be able to walk by Christmas
should I find I'm still enjoying it.
Suggestions?
Answer:Don't go to any of the usual high-street shops. Usually all you'll get
is a choice of fashion runners - no matter what the marketing men say,
Nike Air Triax / Max etc. aren't proper running shoes. However, you
*sometimes* get a decent pair from somewhere like JJB, but it's rare.
You want to find a proper specialist shop, not only will they offer you
a range of much cheaper, but properly designed shoes, but they should
also be able to have a look at the way you walk / run and fit you with
the shoes appropriate for your feet / running style.
The brands to look for, in general, are Asics, New Balance, Saucony and
Brooks.
Personally, I think Asics 'gel' range shoes are the ones to have.
