Question:
Anyone had any experience with the Brooks women's shoes being too
small in width, and then going to the men's shoes? I fell in love with the
2001 Trance NXT's (blue and silver), however I am a 8D (wide) in New
Balance, and there is no way my foot can take a regular width shoe (which is
what the Trance NXT's are). I have thought about switching to the men's
shoes, since they are bigger. Anyone tried this?
Answer:On occasion I see a man's shoe to a woman, but I would definitely try on
the shoe for a while in the store (and around your house) before going
with the shoe.
There are several minute differences between men and women's shoes other
than just size and width.
A similar shoe worth looking at is the Brook's woman's Adrenaline, which
is available in a wide (D) width.
One of the major problems you are going to run into is that you are
going to be about a size 6 1/2 in men's (or there-abouts). You will
quickly learn what most every middle-school aged male in the country
knows: Kids' shoes stop at about 5 1/2, and men's shoes usually start at
about 7 1/2. There is a huge gap where there simply are no shoes.
For example, the Trance that would were looking at seems to start at
about a men's size 8, which would be way too big for your foot.
