cotton in running clothes?!

Question: They are advertised as a wicking / stay dry type of product, but why the cotton ??

Does that small a percentage of cotton not have a negative effect on the ability of the fabric to wick and dry quickly ?? My understanding is so that the item will be able to hold up to being washed. If the item were 100% lycra or 100% Gor-tex or 100% wool it couldn't just be tossed into the washing machine.

Answer:Good point. Additionally, the softer feel of a garment with some cotton in it will more likely be sold (IMO).

It's funny how stores will have a running department with most of the cothing being 100% cotton. Just because a t-shirt says "Asics" or "Adidas" on it, they put it in the running section.
